What is domain flipping?

Registering or buying a domain name at a low price and selling it for more to a business that wants the name for its website. The hard part is picking names before the buyers want them. Daily registration data shows which words they want now.

1. Find the words buyers register most

Every day we split every new .com name into words. A word that is in more new names each week is a word people are building on. Trends ranks them for today, 7 days and 30 days; the September 2026 report ranks the month.

2. Check that many people are buying

One investor can register a thousand names in an afternoon. That is one bet. On Spikes each jump says whether one buyer is behind it or many are. Keep the words that many people register.

3. Check that businesses want the word

The high prices come from businesses. Each keyword page shows the word’s Google searches and the cost per click that advertisers pay. A high cost per click means businesses already spend money on that word.

4. Find the open names

The Generator mixes your trending word with short words and shows the .com names nobody holds. Verify a name with the registry before you buy it.

5. Break down the name before you pay

A Breakdown shows, for each word in the name, the trademarks, the UK and US companies that use it and past sales. A trademark on the exact name is a reason to walk away. A list of companies is a list of buyers.

6. Sell to the businesses that use the word

List the name on a marketplace with a clear price, and contact the companies from the breakdown. Watch the word on My domains, and The Weekly tells you each Monday how it moves.

How do I find domains to flip?

Find a word that more people register each month, check that the demand comes from many buyers and real businesses, then register the open names that use it before others do. Every trending word is free to see, with no account. The 10 words above are a start.
